MINI EWS TESTING FOR NON START

location drivers side under dash secured by security bolt can be removed with pliers
If choosing the immobiliser removal option from the ecu just remove the black plug from the box and link pins 1 and 2 with a 30 amp fuse OR SECURE FUSE TO PLUG BY LOOPING A CABLE TIE THROUGH PLUG OVER THE FUSE 
You can cut and solder the thick wires at the back of the plug from pins 1 and 2 if you wish whatever is your preference.
Now remove the ecu and send it to us. this is all we need and it will be returned to you as a plug and play unit with no immobiliser .

SECURE WITH A CABLE TIE TO HOLD THE FUSE SECURELY IN PLACE

TESTING IF NECESSARY

MINI NON START

First of all try your spare key if you don’t have one you have left it a bit late you could now spend hours checking wires and connections because of a faulty key so before you proceed GET IT TESTED
Mini ews Colours vary from vehicle to vehicle so go by pins which are marked on the plug
Test these wires first
pin 1 to starter crank engine and see if this goes live if not then go to pin 2 if that one shows power when cranking you have an ews fault.place fuse as shown above to test starting circuit engine should now crank if not you may have a starter motor issue.
Pin 2 second starter wire is from ignition switch. crank engine and see if this goes live if not then test again at ignition switch same colour wire as pin 2
Test these wires
Pin 3 ignition live
Pin 4 data connection to ecu location on ecu dependent on ecu message reg number for ecu pinout
Pin 5 ring antenna around key pin 1
Pin 6 neutral or park switch for auto transmission
Pin 7 not used
Pin8 not used
Pin 9 earth
Pin 10 battery live
Pin 11 ignition live
Pin 12 ring antenna pin 2
Pin 13 k line to obd pin 8 on diagnostic plug
If all check out ok move on to ecu pinouts lives earths and communication wires.
